June 3rd. Good grief, this year has gone by quickly.
. . . my in law's cats are now hissing and chasing each other.
I've officially packed all of our clothes, most of the kitchen stuff, and several other random things that had to be organized into different storage bins (i.e. extra sheets, my shoes, and scrapbooks/photo albums).
This is all highly interesting, I know. I'm sure you're all just sitting at the edge of your seats in anticipation for the next sentence written.
So how about my Mom got me these two awesome
beach blankets as a 'house'warming present. I'm definitely liking the idea of buying beach stuff that will be used on a [very] regular basis.
Four days!!!
I've tried writing this post seven different times since yesterday. My brain is on overload, so I'm just going to go through the basics:
-John's in Florida for the week training through Friday
-He now has the keys to our apartment, and he had the water and electricity turned on
-We purchased a black 2005 Nissan Maxima over the weekend. Because John's new job requires him to do a lot of driving, we thought it would be best to get a car with fewer mileage than his previous car. Rather than sell that car, we're letting his parent's take over the payments since his dad's vehicle is on it's last leg. And yes, if you're keeping up, this is our fourth car purchase in fifteen months. Our sixth since we've been together. Some people move a lot. We go through cars, though I am pretty sure we're keeping these for awhile.
- We're leaving a majority of our winter clothes in Tennessee. We're also leaving behind our make shift pantry and our click clack.
-I. am. so. ready. to. move!
Six days.

That's it. John and I are 90% sure we're leaving for the Sunshine State June 7th, rather than the 8th as we previously talked. Writing all of this is so completely surreal. I've told several people over the past couple of days that I've always been willing to move from Middle Tennessee, I just never actually thought the opportunity would present itself. Though, I suppose God is the One who presented it.
God has actually presented a lot of opportunitues over the last couple of weeks; not just for John and I but for those we're closest to as well.
And I have to say, His timing is impeccable.
If you're following me on Twitter (I still really can't believe I set up an account) or if we're Facebook friends, or if you actually know me in real life, then you already know that I've received two very special presents over the last couple of weeks:
My sewing machine, the
Brother LS 590. Due to the unexpected change in um, life, I haven't been able to make anything with hit yet and I'm not sure I will be able to until we're settled in Florida. I'm thrilled to say that I found a place very close to our apartment that offer's sewing classes for all levels. I also plan on buying a WebCam so that I can be in contact with my family 'face to face' back home, so Mom can also help me when I need it. I'm excited; I also got a really cute sewing basket along with some pretty fabric to get started. I bought a pattern for a skirt not too long ago, so that'll probably by me first project on this machine.
I also was FINALLY able to order my first
DSLR camera, the
Canon Rebel T1i. I spent literally months researching the XS, XSi, XT, and XTi before nixing both the XT and XTi and deciding on the XS.
Months.
That is, until, I found out Canon released a new Rebel, the T1i at the very end of March. And I found out two days after I decided on the XS.
So I mentioned it to John and forgot all about it. . . until John brought it back up because he really liked it and thought it would be a great fit for me. The only issue was that it was about $350more than the XS, and there really wasn't a way for us to afford it unless I got a whole lot of graduation money. So we decided to plan to buy the XS and if finances allowed, then I could get the T1i.
Long story short, finances allowed. And I love it. Here are a few samples of what I've taken over the last few days

This is a field at John's parent's house. We have taken many a walk around this thing; it's beautiful.

Jody. She's a half
Fila half, Austrailian Shepherd 65 pound six month old puppy. This was taken a couple of nights after she was 'fixed' and was just not having a very good night. She's a pro at pulling off the pitiful puppy eyes look.

This was one of the first pictures I took with the camera (I've now exceeded 300 and haven't even had the camera in my hands a week). John's mom has a very pretty rose garden outside the house and it makes for some really great pictures.
The pictures of the field and rose are staight out of the camera shots. The picture of Jody was slightly edited with just a boost in the overall color.
I hope to start putting pictures with my blog (even if they are irrevelent) from now on! Hope you guys liked them!
Between vacationing, unwinding from vacationing, spending time with family, and trying to
wrap my mind around the fact that I am moving to Florida, I've had a hard time collecting my thoughts enough to be able to compile enough coherent paragraphs for an entry.
In fact, they're still not collected and most certainly not coherent, so this should prove to be an interesting post ;)
Yes, we're moving. John was officially offered the postion last week while we were at the beach. We took one day and drove around the area we'd be living to see what it had to offer. I was rather skeptical at first (of the quality of the area-- not the fact we're moving) but was very happy to see that the area has been greatly developed and has a lot to offer in terms of shopping and eating. There are also MANY different activities to do, and if I even began to list off all the different things I wanted to do and places I wanted to see, you'd be reading all night.
While we were driving around, we wound up signing a lease on an apartment for the first few months we're there. I'm excited; it's a really nice place with some great amenities. It's also within a mile and a half of a beautiful beach and about 30 minutes from some larger cities!
What else-- yes, this is a promotion. I've seen some of the stuff he's going to be dealing with, and while it's challenging, I think he'll really enjoy himself.
Anyhoo-- I'm tired. And hungry. And need to cook. Ack!

John is meeting with the manager from Florida for lunch today. When he [the manager] called to confirm the meeting he said, 'I don't hire anybody until I can see them'. Unless John and I are reading too much into the manager's words, we're assuming he really wants John to work for him, and the purpose of this meeting is for the manager to make sure John isn't either a creep or a jerk.
If everything goes well, we plan to spend Sunday afternoon and evening in the area of Florida we'd be moving to before heading to Panama City to spend the rest of the week.
At this point, I'm up for either choice. I love Tennesee and everything we have here, but I would be excited if God took us to Florida for a couple of years.
SO we'll see. His meeting begins within the next hour and a half, so I may update more when John gets home tonight.
